Body Contouring
after Massive Weight loss/gastric bypass
Patients who undergo gastric bypass can lose a significant
amount of weight in a short period of time. Although weight loss will ignite a
decline of health morbidities, it can leave individuals with circumferential
body rolls and sagging skin in the breast, pubic area, thighs, arms and abdomen.
With a wide variety of procedures of excisions and lifts,
Body Contouring has evolved to combat this excess skin and rolls. The
goals of body reshaping are to eliminate excess skin, improve skin hygiene,
restore self esteem, decrease health risks, enhance health and beauty, and to
enable patients to fit into clothing.
Body contouring far extends beyond traditional cosmetic
procedures Body Contouring tackles the body as one unit utilizing
multiple excisions, tissue rearrangement, and/or augmentation in the bat wing
arms, the deflated and sagging breasts, the drooping abdomen, the flat buttocks,
and the inner thigh rolls. The procedures are invasive leaving scars in exchange
for excess skin and tissue removal.

Abdominoplasty/tummy
tuck
An abdominoplasty/tummy tuck is performed to
remove additional skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen that may
accumulate after pregnancy, obesity or with aging. A full abdominoplasty
tightens the abdominal muscles that have stretch in order to recreate a
tightened and flattened waistline.
Abdominoplasty may be appropriate in patients with fatty
deposits and loose skin the abdominal area, protruding abdomens, excessively
stretched abdomen (from multiple pregnancies) and sagging, loose skin with or
without weakened abdominal muscles. The Abdominoplasty will
produce a permanent scar which can possibly extend to both sides of your hips,
although the scar will likely be located below the bikini or bathing suit line.

Liposuction
Liposuction is a
technique performed by the Plastic Surgeon at either his Manhattan, New York or
Lawrenceville, New Jersey office to permanently remove fat deposits and
create a smoother, slimmer appearance in targeted areas such as the abdomen,
thighs, buttocks, arms, and /or neck. The liposuction procedure is performed by
gently removing fat deposits beneath the skin using a hollow stainless steel
tube (called a cannula) with the assistance of a powerful vacuum.
Liposuction is not a substitute for a
healthy diet and exercise, but the procedure can reduce and/or eliminate areas
of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods as well as improve
body contour and shape.
It is a great way to lose inches not weight. Following surgery, a firm
elasticized garment is used to provide compression and reduce swelling and
discoloration at the surgical site.

About Liposuction
Thighplasty/ Thigh lift
Fat deposits in the thigh and
lower body area can be particularly resistant to diet and exercise. In addition,
significant weight loss can leave sagging, loose skin that has lost tautness and
elasticity. The thigh lift/ thighplasty is a wonderful cosmetic plastic surgery
procedure performed to correct these problems. The thigh lift is designed to tighten the
skin of the thigh and buttocks and reduce sagging in the inner or outer thigh.
Excision and liposuction are used in tandem to reshape, smoothen, and contour
the thigh envelope.

About Thighplasty / Thigh Lift
Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)
Patients who have
experienced considerable weight loss find themselves with sagging skin in
embarrassing places such as the arms, known as bat wings. A brachioplasty/arm
lift removes this excess skin, fat and tissue from the upper arms. An
incision is made along the underside of the upper arm, in the most inconspicuous
place, and unwanted skin and fat is excised in order to provide a more shapely
and natural contour of the arms.
