Midface Lift
Surgery
The midface lift procedure is a plastic surgery procedure which is
particularly useful for patients with sagging cheeks, deeper nasal
furrows, thinner lips and down-turned corners of the lips. One may
simulate the results of this procedure by placing a finger next to the
corner of your lip and gently elevating upward and outward. The Mid Face
Lift restores the natural convex shape of the lower eyelid and cheek to
correct puffiness of the lower eyelids. A Midface Lift can also diminish
a prominent nasolabial fold, which is the groove that runs from the
outside base of the nose to the outside corner of the mouth.
Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon, Alan Bienstock, MD uses the most advanced
techniques to perform Midface Lift surgery. A small incision is made in
the hairline above the ear, and another above the gumline in the mouth.
The procedure can be done under 'twilight' anesthesia or under general
anesthesia with the patient completely
asleep.
You may be a good candidate for midface lift surgery if: You have sagging cheek tissues, excess cheek skin, and/or hollow or
flat cheeks. This procedure can be performed alone or in
combination with a forehead lift (if indicated).
Frequently Asked Questions About A Midface Lift:
Are there scars after a mid-face lift? There is no visible scarring after a mid-face lift.
What will recovery be like? Following midface lift surgery there is a minimal amount of
discomfort. There will be some swelling and bruising that may last from
7-12 days. Keeping your head elevated and application of cold compresses
will help to reduce swelling. As your incisions heal, you will notice
some itching and possibly some numbness. These symptoms will diminish
over time. You may wear make-up immediately, and your sutures will be
removed in 7-10 days. Strenuous activity is restricted for six weeks.
How much time will I need to take off from work after my mid-facelift?
Patients can typically return to work within a week.
How is the mid-facelift procedure performed? After anesthesia is administered, tiny incisions are placed
inconspicuously within the hairline at the temple and inside of the
mouth. Through small hairline and intra-oral incisions, the surgeon
elevates the cheeks as well as the fat and deeper tissues. The incisions
are then closed with sutures.
Where are the incisions made for an endoscopic mid-facelift?
Tiny incisions are inconspicuously placed within the hairline at the
temple and inside of the mouth, thus allowing for no visible scarring.
