Soft Tissue
Fillers (Restylane, Hylaform, Collagen)
Soft tissue fillers are substances that can be injected into the skin to
improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, augment lips, fill
hollow cheeks, improve scars (surgical and acne), and elevate deep
facial folds. The result in this nonsurgical cosmetic procedure is a
smoother, more youthful appearance. Soft tissue fillers are safe and the
procedure is quick.
Depending on your interest in soft tissue fillers, Plastic Cosmetic
Surgeon, Alan Bienstock, MD will advise you on which filler is best for
your condition.
Restylane® is a soft tissue filler administered to add volume and
fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles, scars and skin folds.
Facial lines and features that can be corrected using Restylane include:
Worry lines that run across the
forehead (forehead lines)
Crow's feet at the corner of the eyes
(periorbital lines)
Frown lines that run between the
eyebrows (glabellar lines)
Smoker's lines which are vertical
lines on the mouth (perioral lines)
Marionette lines at the corner of the
mouth (oral commissures)
Deep smile lines that run from side
of the nose to corners of the mouth (nasolabial furrows)
Cheek depressions
Redefining lip border
Acne scars
Some facial scars
Hylaform® is an FDA-approved dermal (skin) filler made from a
highly purified form of hyaluronic acid that mimics the effects of
natural hyaluronic acid. When injected just below the surface of the
skin, Hylaform adds volume to the skin, smoothing unwanted lines and
wrinkles.
Benefits of Hylaform
Immediate treatment - no
pre-treatment skin test required
Immediate results
Proven safety - used in
international markets for nearly a decade
Mild adverse post-treatment
responses (such as redness, bruising and swelling)
Collagen patented by the Collagen Corporation under the trade names
Zyderm and Zyplast, is derived from purified bovine collagen. The
purification process creates a product similar to human collagen.
Injectable collagen received approval from the Food and Drug
Administration in 1981.
Allergan/Inamed
has designed new collagen products – Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast that are
human based collagen products which do not require any preinjection/allergy
testing.
Collagen is used primarily to fill wrinkles, lines and scars on the face
and sometimes the neck, back and chest. Collagen injections have been
used for decades to replenish the skin’s suppleness and help maintain
its youthful appearance. Collagen Replacement Therapy is a safe,
non-surgical treatment that can even out facial lines and scars, as well
as improve the look of specific parts of the body. |
